What You Should Know About Fagali Airport

Being operated by Samoa Airport Authority, Fagali Airport is a public airport that serves the whole region of Apia. It has a runway of 670 meters which is approximately 2,198 ft. whose surface is Asphalt. Previously the airstrip was being operated by Polynesian Airlines in conjunction with Samoan Government who consequently owned the airport.

Fagali Airport has seen closing and reopening as a result of the government concern on safety and noise. However, in 2009, the Polynesian Airlines reopened the airport and started offering services including global flights to Pago Pago.

This reopening attracted a lot of criticism and complaints where many were worried about the environmental and safety matters. Others were concerned about the burden that the airport would bring in case it fails. However, it has been successful in offering services to both domestic and international passengers.

There have been various Airlines that have operated from Fagali Airport since its reopening including Samoa Airways which travels to Pago Pago, Polynesian Airlines, and Talofa Airways which takes flights to Tonga and Pago Pago, and South Pacific Island Airways.

When traveling to Fagali  Airport, you can find various hotels just around the airport which are exclusively quality and well-stocked. Some of these hotels include Maua Quality Homestay in Apia which is near National Parliament and Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, Hilltop Holiday located at Vaitele and near Faleata Golf Course, and Insel Fehmarn Hotel which is situated at Apia and very great for a family.

Other hotels include Le Manumea Resort, Le Alaimoana Hotel, Samoana Boutique Hotel, Pasefika Inn, Moanalisa Hotel, The Samoan Outrigger Hotel, and Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel.

There are also things that you can do near Fagali Airport to make trip unforgettable. Some of them include: attending concerts and shows at Fiafia Night, take a trip at Samoa Cultural Village, going to Immaculate Conception of Mary Cathedral, taking nature and wildlife tours at Back of the Ute Samoa or at Yoga Hiking Tours, and visiting Museums among others.
